The range of talent, creative flair and originality found on DeviantArt is outstanding. But such things often require recognition; not just artistic or critical recognition, but financial or commercial recognition. The latter form of recognition is by no means the drive for many artists; the work is not created as a product, but is instead a personal, creative expression.
However, artists, as with the remainder of society, need to make a living, especially if they intend to continue as artists*. Some struggle through menial jobs during the week, using their spare time to indulge in their passion. Others set up for themselves, find galleries or get by on commissions.
Contemporize is an alternative, and works as such:
- You submit your artwork to us, either in the form of an e-mail attachment, an online portfolio or a link to personal gallery.
- We look over your work and select what we deem to be suitable pieces, that would appeal to the general art market.
- Once this selection has been discussed, a contract is drawn up for both parties to sign (which you retain a copy of) and a source file is supplied.
- Your work is then published and offered to galleries, art retail companies or individuals to purchase for personal reasons or with the intention of re-selling.
- Upon the sale of your work, you receive 30% of the Net Profit taken from the sale of your work.
Throughout this process you, the artist, retain all rights to the work submitted, the option to withdraw your work at any time, the right to sell the work yourself in a similar manner (we are happy to provide you with your published work for you to re-sell) and the right to recognised authorship (i.e. any time your work is sold, it will be made clear that you were the author).
All that is asked in return is the permission to publish your work for agreed commercial purposes and for you to sign a contract, the time frame of which you can decide, which outlines the legal rights and requirements of both Contemporize and yourself.
If you are interested in participating in this venture, or want to know more about specific aspects, please feel free to note ~Contemporize or e-mail contemporize@art-anyone.co.uk
Those currently working with Art Anyone?'s Exhibition project are entitled to participate, but must sign a separate contract from the one they are currently under.
Thank you for reading.
* For those concerned, a very interesting article was published by $ dygel which focuses on the issue of Deviants and commission based work ---> [link]
